How to make a mad scientist Halloween costume

A young child who loves science would love to dress up as a Mad Scientist for Halloween, school character day or just every day wear. Science Bob is just one character who makes experimenting fun and educational. Adults and children alike can dress up as a Mad
mad scientist halloween costume costumes idea
Scientist using many of the materials from home. Supplies needed include:

1. Long sleeve button front shirt
2. White
lab coat or an adult size large white long sleeve shirt
3.
Protective eye wear
4.
Science beaker filled with candy
5. Black chalk or soot from a fireplace
6. Silver / gray
hairspray or wig
7.
Sharpie
8. Several pens
9. Black face paint
Optional:
1. Clipboard
2. Tie
3. Goofy socks
4.
Pocket protector

To dress the child as a Mad
Scientist, cover the long sleeve shirt and white lab coat / large shirt with soot from a fireplace to make it appear like an explosion has occurred. If soot is not available, substitute black chalk. Write “e-mc2” on the lab coat pocket with the black Sharpie. Dress the child in the long sleeve button front shirt, buttoning it crooked. Place the white lab coat over the shirt and fill the lab coat pocket with numerous pens. Roll the sleeves of the white lab coat unevenly.

To make the crazy scientist’s hair, hold the child’s hair on end and spray with colored hairspray (gray or white) to keep it standing up. Add black face paint in streaks across the child’s face to make it appear that he has been “working”. Place the protective eye wear (goggles) on the child’s head. Protective laboratory goggles are available on
Amazon.com.

As optional accessories, the child can carry a clipboard, wear a neck tie, mismatched goofy socks or a
pocket protector.

As a trick or treat bag, carry a black paper bag with the biohazard symbol on it. This skull and crossbones image may be downloaded here:

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic / corona virus, look for daring adults to dress as mad scientists and healthcare nurses in hazmat gear this Halloween.

How to make a Mario Bros Halloween costume

Creative folks can make money putting together costumes unlike any other listed available on Amazon.com. For example, characters Mario & Luigi from the Super Mario Bros video game series. Sure, store purchased Mario Halloween costumes might be readily available (and expensive), but handmade costumes are more desirable because they are one-of-kind and perfect for boys, girls and adults.

Follow the steps below to make a Mario dress up character costume for Halloween, school parties, character days or school spirit week:

Apparel to Purchase (click the links to purchase supplies):
1.
White slip on gloves
2.
Red baseball cap
3.
Child or adult size red long sleeve shirt
4.
Denim Bib overalls

Less creative folks can purchase the Mario Bros. accessory kit which includes gloves, mustache and hat. Otherwise, supplies needed to make mustache and ball cap:
1.
Red, white and black felt
2. Scissors
3.
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
4. Mustache pattern located at
www.zankat.com

Purchase a
Mario Luigi cap online at Amazon.com. Or, make the Mario baseball cap:
1. Trace the bottom of a soup can onto the white felt to make it perfectly round. Cut out the circle
2. Download the “M” in Mario from
www.zankat.com. Zoom and print to fit on the white circle
3. Assemble the “M” circle and hot glue to hat

To make the mustache:
1. Trace the mustache pattern
here
2. Cut out
3. Use Heavy Duty Scotch shipping tape to hold the mustache in place just above the lip

Child can complete the costume with hiking boots or heavy shoes. I have yet to think of a creative trick-or-treat bag to complete this outfit. Feel free to leave your suggestion in the comments section below!
